Dear Friends.

No, we have not been asleep; we have been endeavouring to obtain from RailCorp answers to our many issues. The issues are on the agenda for the forth-coming meetings be held as usual at Katoomba and Valley Heights .

The Association has to develop an action plan that encompasses issues that derive from the increase in petrol pricing, global warming, carbon credits, and pollution tax concessions. The Association has to develop an action plan to meet the future. RailCorp does not appear to have any plans for the Blue Mountains so we will lead the charge. Our task to ensure improvements in passenger and freight services. . .

The Government has at last recognised that there are capacity problems on the Western Line Penrith — St .Marys and Granville to Sydney CBD. We are experiencing these facts with recent changes to timetable, shortage of carriages, and introduction of dwell times Commuter Car Parking and Bus Services are important aspects of travel.

It will be important for the Association to have support from the Blue Mountains Community in our effect to address issues e.g. rail services Off Peak and Peak services, staff on stations, type of trains we are going to have in the long term, ticketing issues method of payment, standards of service that is being investigated by the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal.

The Association seeks Community Support to ensure the Standards are not eroded but further improvement to meet the Community needs.

The president and myself meet with Phil Koperberg MP for Blue Mtns and Damon Tudor to seek decisions on the restructure of City Rail, Refurbishment of the Intercity Cars and the timetable issues that we have had for some time. I have notified City Rail of our meetings and expect answers.

 

Other issues that are on the agenda are.

  • Commuter Car Parking on the Mountains.
  • The Congestion through Penrith to St Marys.
  • The IPART Enquiry into Service Standards.
  • The Issues pertaining to Penrith Stopping Patterns.
  • Extra Cars on 6.10 P.M. and 6.39 P.M. on Mountain's Services.
  • The NSW Government has introduced plans for a Metro Underground System including a Metro to Parramatta
  • Ticketing Services Day Tripper 3 Day Pass etc.
  • The Customer Charter and the Boston Consulting Group and Service Standards City Rail is developing.
  • The Association pamphlet Membership Drive
  • Restructure of CityRail Sectors Area Managers
